Getting ready on the first day
Mission ELTP
Wondering what ELTP means?? That's Entry level trainee program, a 3 month tough course to groom the academic students into professionals. Exams, presentations, discipline were all a part of the curriculum and used to keep us busy whole day. Thank god they left us on Sunday's. Keeping the learning part aside it was very fun spending time with people from different parts of the country. I made some good friends during this course and we used to work as teams for every task including exams. Now I came to know pretty well why people often say training period is the honeymoon period <3 <3.
Business wait (Most familiar as bench)
'On Bench' is what your 'status' is when you haven't been allotted any project in your company. It is the time to have fun, learn and most importantly you get paid for that fun of yours. Like all major IT companies in India our organization has also got some good bench strength which has kept us waiting for almost 3 months to get into my first project. Reaching office on time, refreshing the trained concepts (not every day though),followed by long lunch and finally getting into the ground & playing cricket. This used to be our daily routine for those 3 months.
Office seemed to me like an extension to college.
Finally into project
Finally i got into my first project after 6 months of joining where i have to start working to what i'm actually paid for. I felt little lucky getting a project at Hyderabad as most of my friends from my training batch got scattered all over India. Life got little tougher while amalgamating my self to this new work environment.Night shifts, weekend shifts, meetings , calls, deliverable's made my life so miserable. This is common for all IT people but i'm little over stressed just because i'm new to this. As the time passed things got better especially no more night/ weekend shifts. One good thing about this IT field is it gives us a chance to meet a lot of people. I have made so many good friends in these last two years.
Upshot
Being my first company, Mahindra Satyam will always have a special place in my heart. I still sometimes miss MSTC, the place where i was trained. I don't think anything in Satyam can get better than MSTC. It boasts a outdoor theater, tennis court, swimming pool, gym, synthetic basketball court, snooker tables and a small zoo. I fell in love with STC for its greenery and the sports facilities they provide. Mahindra Satyam has given me a platform to grow. I have got a long way ahead and hope everything goes smooth. I'll cherish every moment of mine at this place.
I still remember the day i stood outside the gate of an MNC with a file in my hand. It was very uneasy for me in that unusual attire wearing formals with a tie that made me felt like someone holding my throat. July 27th 2012, a memorable day in my life. Its my first day at office. Emotionally it's like being the new kid in school. You don't know anybody, you don't know your way around but still hoping to find someone that you know.It was a tough day signing pile of documents, followed by certificates verification and those long boring speeches. Lunch was OK :)
